Project overview

Lao Cai is a mineral-rich province, with iron ore being one of the province’s major reserves. Lao Cai province’s iron ore is primarily distributed in the Van Ban district, with mines such as Quy Xa iron mine, Vinh village iron mine, Lang Co iron mine, Ba Hon – Lang Lec iron mine, and so on.

Project location: Team 05, Son Thuy commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province.

The scale and capacity of the project: 01 factory with a capacity of 100.00 tons of concentrate/year; 01 factory with the capacity to collect 200,000 tons of concentrate/year,

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued License Number: 1408/GP-BTNMT dated August 29, 2012, type of mineral allowed to exploit: Iron ore

Project size

The ore bodies are distributed into three mining areas based on the geological characteristics of the mine: Northwest, Central, and Southeast.

  • Area No. II of the Central area has an area of 21.4 ha, with an average opening length of 730m and a width of 430 m;
  • Area III of the Northwest has an area of 31.2 hectares, with an average opening length of 1060 m, a field width of 360 m.

Building 02 ore-refining factories at two mines and the mining sequence is determined as follows:

  • Phase 1: Exploiting at the Southeastern mine site with a capacity of 248,000 tons of primary ore to supply refinery No. 1 with a processing capacity of 100,000 tons of refined ore per year.
  • Phase 2: After completing the No. 2 refinery (in the fourth year), exploiting 2 fields in the Southeast and Northwest with a combined capacity of 745,000 tons of primary ore per year.
