Overview
Gio Thanh Solar Power Plant was invested in and built in Nhi Ha Hamlet, Gio Hai Commune, Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province, at a location with great potential for solar energy. Gio Thanh is 8 km southeast of Gio Linh town, 2 km north of Cua Viet town, and 15 km northeast of Dong Ha city center. Invested by Gio Thanh Energy Joint Stock Company, a member of BB Group, the electricity is produced by the plant which will be connected to the national grid through the local power grid with a capacity of 50 MWp. The history and development
Gio Thanh 1 solar power plant was granted Investment Policy Decision No. 363/QD-UBND by the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province on February 22, 2019, with a total capacity of 50 MWp, a power output: 63.58 MWh/year and a total investment of 1,117 billion VND. The project was started on June 26, 2019 and completed energizing and put into commercial operation officially from December 10, 2020.
The cause of industrialization and modernization of the country requires the development of the energy industry as a foundation of other industries to develop, leading to an increase in energy demand. In fact, the investment in the plant will significantly add energy to the national power system.
Gio Thanh 1 Solar Power Plant, with a capacity of 50 MWp, provides an average annual electricity output of 69 million KWh in year, get part of the electricity demand in the region and reduce the power shortage situation in the system, especially during peak hours.
In addition, the factory implements the policy of economic development in difficult districts and extremely difficult communes in the Bai Ngang by using available potentials to develop the regional economy and contributing to the development of the energy industry, contributing to the development of energy industry, and many local jobs will be created. Gio Thanh 1,2 has achieved impressive output since the COD days and contributed to the economic development and social of Quang Tri – a land with a harsh climate, ravaged by war, and exploiting the potential for economic development.
